FWAG South West work in collaboration with partners because we know that collectively we can all have a bigger impact and create a clearer shared vision for the future. We are the partner of choice for organisations looking to deliver on the ground due to our relationship with farmers across the region. We have built up trust over many years with our partners through providing independent, high-quality advice across a wide range of technical farming and wildlife topics.

Education and learning are a key outcome of our charitable objectives at FWAG South West. Providing resources and opportunities for future generations to explore the connection between farming, food and nature. For 33 years, the Kingfisher Award Scheme (KAS) has been one of our flagship projects. It provides exciting opportunities for primary school children across the region to get out on farms and experience firsthand how food is produced and where wildlife live.
Alongside the Kingfisher Award Scheme we support county based farm educational days such as Cornwall’s Farm and Country Days, Somerset’s Field to Food Day and Farmwise in Devon. We can also support farmers who offer educational access on their farm with support around designing activities, health and safety considerations and tips on how to plan your visit.

Kingfisher Award Scheme (KAS)
First launched in Devon by the late Poet Laureate Ted Hughes and friends in 1992, KAS has since grown into a regional educational initiative of FWAG, working with over 900 children a year across five counties.
